ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION LESSONS
It is not enough to know the Fundamentals of English Grammar and to have a good vocabulary.
Good English pronunciation is very, very important. Without good English pronunciation, people cannot understand you! Even if they can understand you, it is difficult for them. It is tiring. They must work too hard!
I am a world expert on accent and pronunciation in English. Over more than 20 years, I have developed special techniques that will give you excellent pronunciation in English. In my Adult English Classes, I promise that your English pronunciation will improve.
Actually, good English pronunciation is fun! Are there any difficult sounds in English? No! Not at all! You just need to learn how to make them.
Basically, what is speaking? Speaking is AIR! It is air that is stopped, interrupted and shaped by the throat, tongue, teeth and lips. That’s all it is! If you have a throat, tongue, teeth and lips (I promise – you do!) you can say any sound in English.
For speakers of Asian languages, I have a personal method of solving the R-and-L problem in less than five minutes! (I promise!) I am experienced in working with Chinese, Japanese, and Korean speakers and offer ESL lessons for all three.
What about accent? Here’s the surprising answer: There is nothing wrong with having an accent – but you must not mispronounce things! Those two things are very different! You can speak beautiful English and still have a foreign accent. I promise that as well!
HOW OUR ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION LESSONS WORK
Sounds and Phonetics
When it comes to sounds and phonetics, I can give you two pieces of good news.
First, there is no sound that is “difficult.” Since speech is just “air,” you can shape that air any way you want to!
Also — for great English Pronunciation, your “best friends” are your EARS! Listen to native speakers wherever you are. Also, listen to yourself! Do those two pronunciations match?
On this Website, be sure to check out the Language Pages. There you will find information about the special pronunciation issues for speakers of Spanish, Portuguese, French, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hebrew and Arabic.
Now – about “phonetics”: I do not like the word “phonetics.” It makes something easy sound difficult – and boring! To improve your English pronunciation, you do not need long, boring phonetic exercises.
In more than 20 years of teaching English, I have developed unique methods for working with any pronunciation issue you have.
For example: For speakers of Japanese, Korean and some other Asian languages, we will permanently “fix” the “R” and “L” problem. For French speakers, we will permanently fix the difficulty with the “th” sound. These are small problems. We can fix them in less than five minutes! I promise!
Practice and Feedback
Yes – practice and feedback! These are the key to my Online English Pronunciation Lessons.
They are also one reason why all the Online English Classes (ESL Classes) at VirtualEnglishTeacherOnline are personalized. Why? Because I don’t only teach English. I teach YOU!
Every student is different, so every lesson plan is different.
I promise that in my English Pronunciation Classes, your English will sound better after the first lesson! Others will notice the difference. And more importantly, YOU will notice the difference!
GREAT ENGLISH TIPS TO REMEMBER:
1) Be sure to speak slowly! Many students speak much too fast! It is difficult to understand you when you speak too fast. Also, you do not have time to think about your vocabulary and the fundamentals of English grammar. Slow down! Speaking is not a race! LOL!
2) Be sure to say every letter and every syllable. In my Adult English Classes, you will learn how to give the correct “weight” to each letter and each syllable in a word. This will make your English clear and beautiful.
3) Remember this: The best English is the most simple English! You will always sound good with simple, short sentences. The best English is the clearest English.
4) Your two ears are your best teachers! Listen to everyone around you. The world is full of teachers. If people use words or expressions you do not understand, write them down and bring them to your next Adult English Class.
5) Relax and enjoy your English. A conversation in English is not a competition. Everybody has a different style. You have your own style. You could call it the “flavor” of your native language. It can make your English unique and beautiful.
